Prayers and Players

Pray-ers are in all cultures, all peoples, all classes,

In organized religions and

In those that refuse to align themselves with any religion at all.

Pray-ers raise prayers of meditation, mediation, worship and distress.

They address Gods they know, or Gods they don’t, hoping to be heard.

They burn their words like incense and watch the smoke rise.

They close their eyes and wait; they open their eyes trying to see in new ways.

Whispers and screams and moans and mantras and silence.

Players, Like prayers are in all cultures and classes.

Like those who pray, those who play offer their music up

Like incense, smoke of rhythm and

Scented melodies rise into that same

Prayer-filled sky.
